Best cheap record players in Ireland at a glance
How we chose these record players
Every player here is sold by Amazon.ie in euro, so it ships from inside the EU with no customs charge. We left out unbranded suitcase players, which often have heavy tonearms that wear records faster. Ireland uses the same three-pin plug and 230V supply as the UK, so any model listed with a UK plug works here without an adapter.
Two questions narrow the choice quickly:
- Do you have speakers? If not, an all-in-one player is the cheapest start, or budget about €100 for a pair of powered speakers to go with a turntable.
- Does it have a preamp? A turntable's signal is too weak for most speakers on its own. Every turntable on this page has one built in except the Pro-Ject Primary E, which needs an amplifier with a phono input.
Record players under €120
All-in-one players with built-in speakers, plus a pair of powered speakers to add to any turntable. The Crosley models also have Bluetooth to send music to a better speaker.
Record players from €120 to €250
The best value range for most people. These are proper turntables with a built-in preamp, and most are fully automatic, so the arm lowers and lifts by itself. Add the Edifier speakers above and the total stays under €300.
Record players from €250 to €400
Better tonearms and cartridges, and more scope to upgrade. Pick one of these if you already own an amplifier and speakers, or plan to build a hi-fi system.

Amazon.ie or a UK website?
Turntables bought from Great Britain are imports. On a parcel worth €150 or less, you pay a €3 customs duty plus Irish VAT, under rules that took effect on 1 July 2026 (Revenue). Most turntables cost more than €150, and above that limit duty is charged at the normal rate for the product, again with VAT on top, plus any courier fee for handling it.
A model that looks €20 cheaper on a British site can easily end up dearer by the time it reaches your door. Buying from Amazon.ie, or any seller inside the EU, avoids all of that.
Warranty and faulty players
Under Irish consumer law, you can reject a faulty player within 30 days for a full refund. A fault that shows up in the first 12 months is presumed to have been there when you bought it, and your rights can last up to six years (CCPC). Keep the box for the first month, as a turntable is awkward to return without it.

Record player questions
What is the best cheap record player in Ireland?
For most people, a fully automatic turntable with a built-in preamp, such as the Audio-Technica AT-LP60X, paired with powered speakers. If you want everything in one box, an all-in-one player like the Crosley Voyager is simpler and cheaper.
How much should I spend on a record player?
Around €150 to €250 buys a proper turntable that treats records well. Add about €100 for powered speakers if you do not have any. All-in-one players start at around €100.
Is it cheaper to buy a turntable from the UK?
Rarely, once customs are added. A parcel from Great Britain now carries customs duty and Irish VAT, plus a possible courier fee. An EU seller such as Amazon.ie has no extra charges.
Will a UK record player work in Ireland?
Yes. Ireland and the UK use the same three-pin plug and the same 230V mains supply.
Do I need a preamp for a record player?
Yes, unless the turntable or your amplifier already has one. Most cheap turntables include a built-in preamp, so they plug straight into powered speakers.
