What vinyl costs in Ireland
A new album on vinyl usually costs €25 to €35 in Ireland. Big new releases and coloured editions often go past €40. Records under €25 tend to be older albums that have been in print for years, plus budget reissues of jazz and soul classics.
Demand is still climbing. Irish vinyl sales rose 20% in 2025 to about 478,000 records, according to industry figures reported by The Irish Times. Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl was the year's top seller, and older albums such as Rumours and (What's the Story) Morning Glory stayed in the top ten.

Irish artists on vinyl
2025 was a strong year for Irish acts. Fontaines D.C., CMAT, Kingfishr, Amble and Kneecap all made the Irish vinyl top ten. Newer Irish releases rarely drop below €25, but The Dubliners and Fontaines D.C.'s Romance come close. Classic albums from Van Morrison, The Pogues, Rory Gallagher and Sinéad O'Connor sit around €25 to €30.
Why ordering from the UK costs more now
Since Brexit, records sent from Great Britain to Ireland count as imports. From 1 July 2026, every item in a parcel worth €150 or less picks up a €3 customs duty, and VAT at the Irish rate is added on top (Revenue). The seller collects it at checkout or the courier asks for it before delivery.
Here is how that works on one record:
- Record price: €23
- Customs duty: €3
- VAT at 23%: about €6
- Total: about €32, before any courier handling fee
The duty applies per distinct item, so an order of four different albums carries €12 in duty before VAT. Buying from a seller inside the EU, Amazon.ie included, avoids the duty completely. Amazon.ie opened in March 2025 with euro pricing and Prime delivery (RTÉ).
How to pay less for vinyl in Ireland
- Buy catalogue albums. Records that have been in print for decades are cheaper than new releases, often by €10 or more.
- Skip the coloured editions. Limited coloured vinyl usually costs more than the standard black pressing and sounds no better.
- Watch the price. Amazon prices change often. Save albums to a wish list and buy when one drops.
- Try second-hand. Record fairs, charity shops, car boot sales and independent shops sell used LPs for a fraction of new prices. Check the disc for scratches before you pay.
If a record arrives damaged or warped
Irish consumer law gives you 30 days to reject faulty goods for a full refund, and a fault that appears in the first year is presumed to have been there at the sale (CCPC). A warped or badly scratched new record counts as faulty. Online purchases from an EU seller also come with a 14-day right to cancel for any reason.

Cheap vinyl questions
Where can I buy cheap vinyl records in Ireland?
Amazon.ie sells new records in euro with no customs charges, and many classic albums cost under €25. For used records, try record fairs and independent record shops, or look in charity shops and car boot sales.
Do I pay customs on vinyl ordered from the UK?
Yes. Since 1 July 2026, each item in a parcel worth €150 or less from Great Britain carries a €3 customs duty, plus Irish VAT. Orders from sellers inside the EU are not affected.
Why is vinyl dearer in Ireland than in the UK?
VAT on records in Ireland is 23%, compared with 20% in the UK, and smaller order volumes mean higher shipping costs for retailers. The gap has narrowed since Amazon.ie began selling in euro.
What were the best-selling vinyl records in Ireland in 2025?
Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl was the biggest seller. Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and Oasis’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory also made the top ten. So did five Irish acts.
How much should a new vinyl record cost in Ireland?
Most new albums cost €25 to €35. Under €25 is a good price for a new LP, and under €20 is cheap.
